Trauma & PTSD Therapy in Florida
Trauma isn't only what happened. It's what your body and mind still do about it.
The work
Trauma is my primary clinical focus, and I'm a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional — a certification through PESI that I completed in 2023 on top of my counselling licence.
People often assume trauma has to be a single catastrophic event to count. It doesn't. A long stretch of feeling unsafe, a childhood spent managing an unpredictable adult, a medical emergency, an accident, an assault, or a loss that arrived too fast — any of these can leave a nervous system that stays braced long after the danger has passed.
What It Can Look Like
- Sleep that won't come, or won't stay
- Being startled easily
- Intrusive memories or images
- Avoiding places, people, or conversations
- Feeling numb or far away
- Anger that arrives faster than you expect
- Difficulty trusting people
- Physical symptoms with no medical cause
How I Approach It
Slowly, and with your consent at every step. The first part of trauma work isn't revisiting what happened — it's making sure you have enough steadiness to do that safely. We build that first. You set the pace, and you're never required to tell me more than you want to.
The two methods I use most are Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which adapts CBT specifically for processing traumatic experience, and Trauma Incident Reduction, a structured way of working through a specific event that still has a grip on you.
What most people are looking for isn't to erase the memory. It's for the memory to stop running the day.
